How do I get to Hawrelak Park?

The park is closed to public vehicles but there will be a shuttle that will go between the park and the Windsor Car Park (9217 116 St. NW) for free every 5-7 minutes. *schedule attached below. Cycling to the park is also a great option! We have a bike lot available but please bring your own lock.  Please note that masks will be required when on the shuttle bus, as per AHS guidelines for public transit”.

When should I arrive for my shift?

It’s best to ask your Captain to be safe, but prioritize arriving 30 minutes before your scheduled start time.

Where will we meet?

Your Captain will tell you where to meet in advance.

What should I wear?

While on shift, wear your volunteer t-shirt with black or khaki knee-length or full-length pants. No jeans please.
Dress for unexpected weather and bring sunscreen and bug spray as required.
Wear comfortable shoes.

Will I be served food during my shift?

Volunteers will be served meals and snacks while on shift in the Volunteer tent. If you have any special dietary requirements, please bring your own food.
Volunteers unable to leave their positions will be brought lunch, snacks and water throughout their shift.
We recommend carrying a water bottle.

Are masks mandatory?

On Saturday, the 21st mask use will be mandatory for everyone in the park as we must assume the safest protocols for our international athletes. During breaks away from the course, masks may be removed to eat and drink.
On Friday, the 20th and Sunday, the 22nd, we will be following local public health guidelines put in place by AHS at that time. If the COVID-19 transmission risk remains low, there will be no masking or distancing requirements.

What other COVID protocols will be in place on Saturday?

Alongside mandatory mask use, the Bubble event requires fairly strict COVID protocols. A COVID screening must be completed before the beginning of your shift and physical distancing will be encouraged.

Do I need to be vaccinated to volunteer?

Nope. Indicating your vaccination status on InitLive is optional, but appreciated.

When is the volunteer orientation?
