Well, we'd like to change that by announcing that the World Triathlon Grand Final has been confirmed for Edmonton in 2021
World Triathlon Edmonton is very pleased to share that the World Triathlon Grand Final, originally scheduled for this month will be held in Edmonton, August 17-22, 2021.
Over the past four months, World Triathlon Edmonton has worked closely with World Triathlon, Triathlon Canada and the City of Edmonton to ensure this prestigious world championship would take place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. A delay in hosting the 2020 Grand Final due to the COVID-19 pandemic and directive from Alberta's Chief Medical Officer of Health was announced in April.

World Triathlon’s Executive Board has decided to modify the traditional program of the Grand Final already for 2021. Edmonton will host the Grand Final, while Bermuda will organize the Sprint & Relay World Championships.
Included in the program of the 2021 Grand Final in Edmonton:
- Elite Grand Final event of the World Triathlon Series on Standard distance
- U23 World Championships on Standard distance
- Age-Group World Championships on Standard distance
- Age-Group World Championships on Super-sprint distance
- Aquabike World Championships on Standard distance
The World Triathlon Grand Final is the pinnacle international triathlon event that draws 3,000 athletes, welcomes over 5,000 visitors and estimates an economic impact of $35 million. The Grand Final is broadcast to 160 countries around the globe through international television and online streaming. Organizers have committed to hosting exciting community events and races where people of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate.

The World Triathlon Grand Final Edmonton will be held at Hawrelak Park, August 17-22, 2021.
